About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ecologist to join our team at Countrysidemanagement, providing ecological expertise to ensure our clients' projects move forward while protecting and benefiting nature and wildlife.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct protected species surveys and assessments, including bats, great crested newts, water voles, reptiles, and Schedule 1 birds.
  • Perform site and habitat surveys and assessments to inform conservation management advice.
  • Develop and implement conservation management plans for species and habitats.
  • Act as an Ecological Clerk of Works on selected projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
  • Have experience in ecological field survey work, including protected species surveys.
  • Be familiar with relevant UK environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Be a member of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent professional body.
  • Have experience in report writing, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans, and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Be able to develop mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Hold a full clean UK driving licence.
