Job Overview

The Engineering Project Management Teams at TE Connectivity oversee multifaceted engineering initiatives. They collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Finance, and other departments to ensure that projects align with financial, scheduling, and customer expectations. Their responsibilities include defining and establishing project timelines, managing portfolios, facilitating communication, executing programs, identifying resource limitations, and collaborating with management for resolutions, all while adhering to LeanPD methodologies.

The Aerospace Defense and Marine (ADM) Business Unit (BU) is dedicated to the development and ongoing support of products in the realm of power and communications connectivity.

Position Scope and Responsibilities

The Environmental Compliance Manager reports directly to the Director of CTO Excellence for the Business Unit and is an integral member of the CTO Excellence Leadership team.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Ownership of Product & Environmental Compliance (PEC) to ensure that ADM meets all critical regulatory standards,

• Leadership in Design for Sustainability (DfS) to support TE's commitment to minimizing its product carbon footprint, particularly focusing on Scope 3 emissions.

TE adheres to a SET (Strategy, Execution, and Talent) Framework, and the following outlines the detailed responsibilities of the role (note that this list is not exhaustive and may exclude additional related responsibilities):

Strategy
The incumbent will:

• Serve as the PEC and DfS Champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their Business Unit,

• Stay informed about new, pending, or revised PEC legislation relevant to the Business Unit and its products,

• Formulate a PEC strategy to ensure the Business Unit is prepared to respond to evolving regulations,

• Promote adherence to TE PEC policies and legislative requirements,

• Represent the Business Unit on the corporate Product Compliance Council (PCC) and lead the BU PCC,

• Develop a DfS Strategy to ensure sustainable design choices align with corporate sustainability objectives,

• Establish processes to integrate DfS methodologies into New Product Introduction and Sustaining activities,

• Drive continuous enhancement of processes and capabilities related to the role.

Execution
The incumbent will:

• Provide training on all aspects related to PEC and Sustainability to individuals and groups within the Business Unit,

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to devise plans to adapt to changing/new regulations and achieve PEC and Sustainability goals,

• Monitor progress and hold the organization accountable for executing PEC and DfS initiatives,

• Ensure governance over New Product Development/New Product Introduction/Sustaining Projects to safeguard compliance,

• Generate regular reports detailing Business Unit performance and progress towards targets and updates on regulatory changes,

• Support strategic corporate initiatives related to PEC and Sustainability,

• Ensure the effectiveness of Business Unit PEC responsibilities and data management,

• Coordinate with internal organizations to ensure effective support for Business Unit customer requests,

• Address detailed customer inquiries regarding PEC information on Business Unit products; manage internal PEC-related requests,

• Assist in setting annual PEC and DfS targets for the Business Unit.

Talent
The incumbent will:

• Develop a succession plan for their role.

• Enhance the understanding and effectiveness of employees involved with PEC topics through training, guidance, and coaching.

• Communicate effectively across multiple levels/functions within the Business Unit.

• Advise, guide, and educate colleagues across the Business Unit on relevant global legislation, TE's implementation, and compliance requirements.

• Foster awareness within various Business Unit departments and act as a Champion for decisions that benefit the global environment.

• Design and deliver training programs in support of PEC and Sustainability topics.

What your background should look like:


• Over 10 years of subject matter expertise in PEC with experience in developing the necessary infrastructure to support business compliance,

• A degree in Science or Engineering is advantageous but not mandatory if relevant work experience has been acquired,

• Previous employment in a product development environment, with preference for experience in regulated industries,

• Familiarity with European and Global Safety Directives (such as RED 2014/53/EU, EMC 2014/30/EU, LVD 2014/35/EU, TOYS 2009/48/EC, RoHS 2011/65/UE, ErP 2009/125/EC, REACH 1907/2006),

• Understanding of purchasing and shipping methods concerning environmental and regulatory issues,

• Experience with materials used in connectivity-related products (or comparable alternatives) and the requirements for using restricted materials and developing suitable tracking mechanisms,

• Proficiency in industry-standard software related to PEC,

• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes is a plus,

• Knowledge of Sustainability, particularly Scope 3 Emissions, is beneficial.

• Proficiency in standard reporting/presentation and data analysis tools,

• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean methodologies is desirable,

• Strong general IT skills.
