About the Role

Safran Seats is a leading manufacturer of premium seating and technology for the aerospace industry. We are seeking an experienced IPT Manufacturing Engineer to lead our manufacturing engineering team and ensure the successful introduction of new products into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians to ensure product designs meet manufacturing and assembly requirements
  • Collaborate with design engineering to deliver customer programmes into production on time, to cost, and to a high quality standard
  • Represent the department at the programme level and provide support to operations, sales, R&T, and after-market teams
  • Ensure design reviews are supported at the right level and issues are communicated, logged, and resolved
  • Drive the team to eliminate design for assembly/manufacture issues at every key stage of the programme
  • Work with other engineering functions to agree on development build requirements and ensure necessary improvements are made
  • Review make vs buy activities and propose changes to the purchasing department
  • Develop a production strategy with operations to ensure customers' requirements are met and estimate CAPEX requirements for tooling
  • Ensure wastes are eliminated during the design of the production process and the team is trained in lean methodology
  • Ensure APQP & PPAP documentation are compiled and released at the correct level of quality and on time
  • Ensure PFMEAS are completed and all actions are closed

Requirements

  • B.Eng. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience of leading and developing a technical team
  • Excellent knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly principles
