The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Building Structural Engineer to join our team as a Technical and Project Lead. As a key member of our team, you will lead and inspire a team of Engineers and Technicians across a wide array of projects, ranging from small to large-scale endeavors, with construction values of up to £20 million.

The ideal candidate will possess a structural design background and an understanding of the necessity for permanent and temporary works design to support our engineering teams and primary contractors in resolving construction challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians, including mentoring, coaching, and training.
  2. Project Ownership: Take full ownership of assigned projects across building schemes.
  3. Site Inspections and Assessments: Conduct inspections, site surveys, and structural assessments, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  4. Design and Calculation: Oversee the design of civil and structural schemes, check designs prepared by others, and perform detailed calculations manually and via computer models.
  5. Junior Staff Support: Advise junior staff on solutions and support team members in solution development.
  6. Project Management: Prepare and manage project programs, workload, and resources in collaboration with directors.
  7. Client Collaboration: Collaborate with clients to define project scope and ensure deliverables.
  8. Tender Preparation: Prepare tenders and fee proposals.
  9. Business Development: Develop new and existing client relationships.
  10. Team Development: Develop the team, including interviewing and resourcing.

What We Offer

  1. Competitive Salary: As a Chartered Principal/Senior Engineer, you will receive a salary ranging from £35,000 to £55,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  2. Benefits Package: 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days per year, company performance-related bonus scheme, matched pension scheme of up to 5%, private healthcare schemes, and Cycle to Work Scheme.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Relevant Degree: Relevant degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  2. Chartership or Chartered Status: Progress towards Chartership or Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
  3. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience.
  4. Technical Proficiency: Strong technical proficiency in assessment and design, including inspections, calculations, and analysis of existing and new-build structures.
  5. Project Management Experience: Substantial project management experience across buildings, bridges, and temporary works, with a proven track record of meeting targets.
  6. Industry Experience: Experience within the UK industry, preferably with Eurocode and Highway standards.
  7. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of Engineers.
  8. Client-Focused Approach: Client-focused approach with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial acumen.
  10. Driving License: Full UK driving license and own transport.
  11. Eligibility: Eligible to live and work in the UK with a high standard of written English.
