Overview

At Historic England, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting England's rich historical heritage. We are currently seeking a Financial Systems Accountant to join our team. This position does not necessitate a formal accounting qualification, although familiarity with accounting principles would be advantageous.

Contract Details

This is a fixed-term role with an expected duration until May 31st, 2025.

Work Arrangement

This position offers a hybrid working model, requiring at least one day per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Systems Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the financial systems utilized by our organization and our clients.
  • Developing comprehensive reports and providing user support as part of our shared service.
  • Leading the strategy for financial systems reporting, which involves creating, updating, and improving reports using tools such as Crystal Reports and XQuery, as well as managing Excel-based reporting systems.
  • Analyzing and manipulating data within the MS SQL database to resolve support issues.
  • Collaborating with software vendors to implement updates, troubleshoot software challenges, and identify opportunities for system enhancements.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals who possess:

  • Experience in supporting a financial system with a user base exceeding 250 individuals.
  • Proficiency in financial or performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL, Crystal Reports, and XQuery.
  • A collaborative spirit and a willingness to engage with team members and the broader organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
