Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute design tasks as requested by internal teams and clients.
  • Develop 3D CAD Mechanical Designs for Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Produce 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D CAD designs.
  • Compile essential technical documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), Technical Specifications, and User Guides.
  • Oversee project activities within the country as part of a global project management framework, including proposals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Address technical inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.

Your Role Will Include:

The GSE Design Specialist serves as the primary contact for mechanical design, responding to group demands and client specifications. Design activities are primarily conducted using CATIA V5, though other tools may also be utilized. In essence, the GSE Design Specialist must:

  • Develop conceptual designs for tools or other products based on technical specifications or available information.
  • Guide the international design team in creating detailed CAD designs of components and large assemblies.
  • Recommend modifications to existing tools based on design assessments.
  • Understand and apply the ISO tolerance system effectively.
  • Be knowledgeable about relevant standards, particularly CE standards and safety considerations.
  • Reverse engineer existing products or drawings as necessary.
  • Identify and monitor key characteristics and critical design elements.
  • Assist the manufacturing team with production-related challenges.
  • Validate detailed design drawings in accordance with international and client-specific standards.
  • Create supplementary documentation as required.
  • Review existing designs completed internally or by third parties.
  • Support Project Managers in providing quotes.
  • Assist with related activities, such as addressing technical queries related to design topics.
  • Familiarity with VBA CATIA and C# programming or similar languages is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of CAD design for additive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Understanding of other engineering disciplines, including:

- Electrical design (schematic and PCB)

- Hydraulic and pneumatic design

- ATEX compliance

Quality Assurance:

The GSE Design Specialist will undergo quality audits managed by the Transnational Quality Manager (TQM).

  • Adhere to applicable design procedures and contribute to their enhancement.
  • Be aware of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to your role.
  • Participate in the development or improvement of training materials as needed.
  • Complete applicable checklists and review existing ones.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant domain.
  • Proven experience in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with CATIA V5 is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), Jigs, and Tools is preferred.
