Role Responsibilities
The primary function of the Investigator is to assist the Regulatory Compliance Investigations Lead in examining significant violations of maritime regulations, including the prosecution of offenders when deemed appropriate.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of the UK Civil Service as the authoritative body in maritime matters and supporting the Maritime Investigations Manager in achieving departmental objectives.
This role is diverse and dynamic, encompassing tasks such as monitoring communications, managing referrals and complaints, collecting witness testimonies, and providing evidence in legal proceedings.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting investigations by performing a variety of tasks as directed by your supervisor.
- Assisting in the interviewing of individuals under caution.
- Contributing to the preparation of criminal evidence files.
- Helping the Lead Investigators in gathering statements for criminal inquiries.
- Assisting in the collection, preservation, and management of evidence, including CCTV footage, in accordance with established protocols.
Candidate Profile
About You
This position requires a candidate with strong investigative skills and experience in interviewing individuals under caution, particularly within the maritime sector.
You will be a collaborative team member with excellent interpersonal abilities, capable of navigating challenging situations with a tailored communication approach.
Your organizational skills and proficiency in IT, especially in Microsoft Office applications, will be crucial in managing your workload effectively.
Attention to detail is essential, as you will be expected to produce high-quality documentation and reports.
Additional Information
This role offers flexible working arrangements, allowing for a hybrid model of home and office work, providing you with greater control over your work environment.
Travel within the UK and occasionally overseas may be required for official duties, which could involve overnight stays.
A valid driving license and passport are prerequisites for this position.
