About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Via, a leading provider of drug and alcohol services. As a Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical care to our service users, improving their health and outcomes in their recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessments and initiate prescribing for new service users seeking opiate substitution therapy, ensuring responsive and timely initiation of prescribing.
  • Assess service users for suitability for on-site ambulatory detoxification and support the nursing team during ambulatory detoxes, and with relapse prevention prescribing.
  • Support effective continuity-of-care prescribing from prisons and inpatient settings.
  • Conduct regular clinical reviews in line with best practice guidelines.
  • Encourage service users to consider OST reduction plans, OST community detoxes within our Recovery Hub, and inpatient OST detoxification.
  • Offer harm reduction advice and information, including overdose prevention and naloxone, to help service users take an informed approach to their treatment.
  • Support the multidisciplinary team of recovery practitioners, volunteers, and apprentices to have a greater awareness and understanding of clinical factors and decision making to support holistic treatment planning and risk assessment.
  • Attend and chair the weekly MDTs, and Via weekly Central Clinical Meeting.

Person Specification
  • Registered nurse (RMN, RGN or Learning Disabilities Nurse) with a current active PIN number and appropriate Non-Medical Prescribing Accreditation.
  • Passion for and understanding of working with substance misuse services or with other socially excluded or vulnerable groups.
  • Great team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver an excellent quality level of service to people with complex needs.
  • Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programs and digital meeting platforms and Case Management Systems.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the Health and Social Care regulatory requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), National Institute for Clinical Excellence standards for Health and Social Care and any other relevant bodies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in different settings and to different groups of people.
