About the Role

IDEX Consulting Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Assistant to join their team. As an Actuarial Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Scheme Actuary in delivering high-quality actuarial services to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Attend client meetings, presenting actuarial findings and engaging with clients on relevant key issues.
  • Actuarial Calculations: Check and review a variety of actuarial calculations, understanding the implications of the results to provide advice on matters such as contribution rates, levy reduction, and liability reduction exercises.
  • Reporting and Communication: Draft reports, emails, and presentations to deliver actuarial results and advice, as well as drafting member communications such as Summary Funding Statements and responses to individual queries.
  • Client Management: Take responsibility for allocating and completing work, meeting deadlines, and working directly with the Scheme Actuary.
  • Technical Knowledge: Maintain a good understanding of relevant technical issues, including TASs, Codes of Practice, scheme documentation, and the supporting regulatory framework.
  • Process Improvement: Develop internal standard processes and identify new ways to work more efficiently.
  • Personal Development: Take a proactive role in personal development and training, attending and delivering internal technical training sessions and demonstrating application of learning.
Requirements
  • Newly or nearly qualified as an Actuary with experience working in the pensions industry.
  • Broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of UK Pensions Legislation.
  • Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and complete work in accordance with deadlines.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, confident and able to explain complex issues in simplified terms to clients and more junior team members.
  • Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products, in particular Excel.

  • Broad understanding of how the UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of the UK Pensions Act with the ability to interpret rules and awareness of what they mean for client work.
