Join Our Team as a Director of Engineering

At Frasers Group, we're revolutionizing the retail industry through innovative digital solutions and unique store experiences. As a leader in our field, we're elevating the retail experience for our customers through our collection of established brands, including Sports Direct, FLANNELS, USC, Frasers, and GAME.

This role is a 12-18 month fixed-term contract, requiring on-site presence 2/3 days a week at our Shirebrook HQ. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in driving our Digital Engineering strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the transformation and modernization of our eCommerce platform, ensuring scalability, robustness, and high transaction volumes.
  • Provide strong leadership and organization across engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high performance.
  • Implement and enhance development processes that meet stringent quality, security, and scalability standards.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business, such as Retail, Warehouse, Commercial, and other key departments to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions that align with overall business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend scalable, high-performance solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of eCommerce solutions by identifying bottlenecks, implementing caching strategies, and improving system responsiveness.
  • Establish quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in software development, conducting code reviews, performance testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and training, ensuring the team is equipped with modern skills and practices.
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in software development.
  • 10+ years of management experience leading diverse engineering teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading a large-scale MACH architecture and composable commerce transformation program.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong technical expertise in software design, cloud-based solutions, and development methodologies.
  • Leadership and organizational skills to manage large, distributed teams.
