This is an exciting opportunity to join the Defence, Diplomacy and Intelligence (DDI) team at HM Treasury, working on defence and security policy issues. As a Policy Advisor, you will be responsible for developing expertise in Army and Defence Digital policy, crafting policy thinking, and evaluating risks within the defence Land and Strategic Command portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of defence policy, including Army and Defence Digital policy, and provide expert advice to HM Treasury seniors and ministers.
- Run day-to-day spending control, project scrutiny and approvals covering the land warfare environment, Army capabilities and defence digital, and engage extensively with MOD and HM Treasury colleagues.
- Support HMT's thinking on the overall balance of defence capabilities within MOD's Equipment Plan, and wider defence policy issues.
- Build strong working relationships with the MOD, the Army, Strategic Command, Cabinet Office, Infrastructure and Projects Authority, and other parts of Treasury.
- Become an encouraging member of the team, helping to ensure a positive, encouraging and friendly working environment.
About You
We are looking for a high-performing individual with a track-record of quickly establishing positive relationships with a range of collaborators, optimally scrutinising decisions, and a positive demeanour. Prior experience of defence, security and public spending is not crucial - we are interested in applications with a wide range of experience and backgrounds.
