Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Manager to join our team at HMYOI Aylesbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the food services for the establishment, ensuring the provision of high-quality meals for prisoners, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the food services for the establishment, including planning, budgeting, and implementing menus.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality meals for prisoners, meeting the nutritional and dietary needs of the population.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, including monitoring and reporting operating faults, and ensuring compliance with food safety management systems and hygiene assessments.
  • Manage the catering budget, including estimating, ordering, and managing resources to maximize the reduction of waste.
  • Supervise and train staff, ensuring they are appropriately inducted, trained, and supervised.
  • Implement national policy and contribute to the development of local policy, procedures, and practice for catering.
  • Collect, collate, analyze, and act on data concerning the catering function, including feedback on the choice and quality of food provided.
Requirements:
  • Food Hygiene Level 4 Diploma or equivalent Level 4 award in HACCP.
  • Experience in a similar role, managing food services in a prison or similar establishment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with prisoners, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required.
