About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Early Years, Inclusion and Childcare Service as an Early Years SEND Inclusion Advisor. This exciting opportunity will allow you to lead a highly skilled team and work closely with children and families in their homes and early years provision.

As an Early Years SEND Inclusion Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring children have the right support at the right time. You will work closely with children and families to provide inclusive provision in local mainstream settings, and partner with other services in the department, including health, to ensure children reach their full potential.

The service supports children who are at risk of exclusion and has a successful relationship with schools and settings to ensure children maintain their placements. You will also work with our Portage Practitioners to support our youngest children.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of further training leading to specialist qualification in working with SEND and leadership and management experience in early years or SEND. You will also need to have experience of working with early years SEND children and families, making home visits, offering advisory support to parents and carers, and providing a teaching programme appropriate to the child's abilities and needs.

You will be able to cope with pressure, be self-organized, and meet deadlines. You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments. Therefore, we will consider working arrangements that suit an individual's personal circumstances while still meeting the needs of the Council.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of further training leading to specialist qualification in working with SEND and leadership and management experience in early years or SEND
  • Experience of working with early years SEND children and families
  • Experience of making home visits, offering advisory support to parents and carers, and providing a teaching programme appropriate to the child's abilities and needs
  • Excellent early years practice and experience of working with early years SEND children and families and other agencies to support children with SEND and to offer guidance and support to settings across the 0-5 sector
  • Able to cope with pressure, be self-organized, and meet deadlines

You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
