About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team at Blue Cross Grimsby Animal Hospital. As a Clinical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing our busy hospital caseloads, supervising specific clinical areas, and ensuring the smooth operation of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the workload in clinical areas such as theatres, clinics, inpatients, or wards to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Deliver high-quality first opinion small animal care, including consultations, diagnostics, surgery, inpatient care, emergency, and critical care.
  • Handle complex clinical cases, adhering to Blue Cross Clinical Guidelines.
  • Mentor and support newly qualified veterinary graduates through our Vet GDP program, setting clear development goals and conducting regular assessments.
  • Lead small groups in implementing improved ways of working and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines.
  • Ensure excellent client care, including managing challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Perform first opinion small animal care, including consultations, diagnostics, surgery, and inpatient care.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Demonstrable small animal or mixed practice experience
  • Sole charge experience
  • Proven experience in mentoring or coaching veterinary professionals
  • Understanding of the Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (Vet GDP) and its requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively support and inspire new graduates
  • Ability to demonstrate, understand, and apply our Blue Cross values
