£40,000+ depending on skills and experience

Job Summary:

As a Senior Metrology Engineer – Electrical Calibration, you will be responsible for performing high-end calibrations and repairs on a wide variety of electrical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). You will also deliver specific, target-driven on-the-job training and experiential learning to ICS Electrical team members and apprentices/graduates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-end calibrations and repairs on TMDE
  • Deliver on-the-job training and experiential learning to team members and apprentices/graduates
  • Deputise for ICS Electrical team leader whenever required
  • Write and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
  • Take part in quality audits and achieve UKAS signatory status
  • Communicate with technical stakeholders on instrumentation and calibration topics
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a precision electrical calibration/metrology laboratory environment
  • Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001)
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
Desirable:
  • Existing UKAS signatory status for electrical calibration
  • Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level
  • Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)
  • Experience in mechanical, dimensional, temperature, and other engineering calibrations

About the Team:

The Calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. ICS Electrical focuses on the calibration, maintenance, and repair of TMDE capable of making AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, inductance, capacitance, and time/frequency measurements.
