We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Naval Architect to join our Engineering team at RNLI. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design, stability, and safety of all our floating assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Oversee the hiring, training, and development of a skilled and resilient team to ensure the success of our projects.
  • Design Authority: Act as the primary Design Authority for Naval Architecture, ensuring adherence to design standards throughout the life cycle of our assets. Provide oversight and approval as needed.
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with boatyards, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.
  • Industry Engagement: Engage with industry and academia to enhance engineering practices and stay up-to-date with the latest developments.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks to ensure the safety and reliability of our assets.
  • Innovation Promotion: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements
  • Chartered or Fellow engineer registration with the Engineering Council.
  • Experience in marine design and engineering environments.
  • Desirable: Project management and leadership experience, risk management training (IOSH or equivalent).
