About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cleaning Operative to join our team at Telscombe Cliffs Academy. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the school premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out cleaning duties as directed by the Premises Manager, adhering to good cleaning principles and meeting contractual deliverables.
  • Operate mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, following site training and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Dilute and use cleaning products and materials as instructed, adhering to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Replenish consumable items, such as soap and toilet paper, in all toilets and activity areas.
  • Collect and remove waste and rubbish from classrooms, activity areas, and toilets, and dispose of it at the designated collection point.
  • Perform deep cleaning duties during school closure periods, including walls, doors, furniture, carpets, and polished floors, using polishes and sealants as required.
  • Notify the Helpdesk or Premises Manager of any repair or maintenance work needed for the safe and efficient operation of the school.
  • Observe and comply with all Health and Safety policies, COSHH, and other codes of practice for cleaning staff.
  • Assist in cleaning other areas as directed by the Helpdesk or Premises Managers in case of staffing shortages.
  • Carry out emergency cleaning duties as required due to accidents, sickness, or vandalism.
  • Perform cleaning activities where a health hazard exists, subject to risk assessment and PPE.
  • Comply with instructions relating to security and confidentiality.
Person Specification
  • Previous experience in workplace cleaning is an advantage.
  • Good timekeeping and attendance are essential.
  • Experience of providing good customer service is desirable.
  • A methodical and meticulous approach to work is required.
  • Ability to read and speak English to ensure safe working practices are followed.
