Role Overview
The Engineering Buyer plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely procurement of components and services essential for locomotive maintenance. This position offers the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge while collaborating with various departments, including Finance, Engineering, and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Solicit quotations and process requisitions for services and spare parts.
- Manage the acknowledgment and processing of service receipts.
- Maintain and validate Purchase Order Numbers and Supplier Invoices.
- Resolve any invoice discrepancies efficiently.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
- Oversee the repairable asset inventory, ensuring timely repairs and overhauls.
- Initiate work orders as necessary.
- Ensure the prompt procurement of parts and services in line with maintenance schedules.
- Review contractor work sheets and communicate any concerns to the engineering team.
- Perform general administrative duties.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers while managing pricing indices.
- Establish and oversee stock levels to support maintenance operations.
- Anticipate future stock needs considering lead times and quantities.
