Job Summary:
The Senior Underwriter - Financial Institutions role is a key position within the London Branch of Chubb, responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the Financial Institutions (FI) portfolio. This role involves underwriting new business and key renewals, developing close working relationships with key brokers, and driving the marketing and development plan for FI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Financial Institutions Manager to develop strategies for achieving depth and breadth penetration of the market in FI.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with key brokers, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Drive the marketing and development plan for FI, engaging in strategy, product, and marketing to consolidate and build a solid, sustainable, and profitable book of business.
- Deliver a profit to financial institutions by implementing an underwriting and marketing strategy that matches Chubb's products and appetite to the local market.
- Lead by example and collaborate with colleagues in other departments to promote the Chubb franchise, including cross-line relationship management of designated brokers, drafting and following up on plans, and implementing incentive arrangements.
- The position will be judged primarily on profitability, achieved through the execution of rate and underwriting strategy, risk selection, and focused growth.
- Establish and execute business plans to maximize business opportunities with brokers, building and maintaining a strong external reputation.
- Possess in-depth knowledge and experience of Financial Institutions underwriting, as well as experience dealing directly with clients on complex matters.
- Be a technical expert with a good market reputation, proactive in identifying opportunities and taking initiatives to support business goals.
- Excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiation skills, both written and verbally, with the ability to build solid business relationships with brokers and customers.
- Proficient in sales and marketing, with a proactive self-starter attitude, confident to make decisions independently and in collaboration with colleagues and/or managers.
- Self-motivated team player with a 'can-do' attitude, coordinating across departments and lines of business, including Claims.
- Competent in wording drafting and engaging with large complex FI clients.
- Able to support the development and training of the wider FI team through coaching and support in the development of formal training.
- 5+ GCSEs or alternative professional accreditation (such as CII).
