Main Responsibilities

The Care Support Worker will provide practical and emotional support to Residents, enabling them to maintain their independence and reach their full potential.

Key Duties
  • Ensure a safe, caring, and homely environment for Residents, promoting their physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being.
  • Treat Residents with dignity and respect at all times, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to Deepdene Care's policies and procedures.
  • Report observations and concerns regarding Residents' well-being to Senior Staff, Deputy Manager, or Home Manager as applicable.
  • Assist with medication administration, following legal requirements and Deepdene Care's policies and procedures.
  • Carry out observations and physical health monitoring as directed.
  • Support Residents in participating in the Home's activities program, both internal and external.
  • Organize and deliver activities when required.
  • Support key working duties with individual Residents, as directed.
  • Assist Residents in maintaining good personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Arrange and accompany Residents to appointments, such as GP or dental visits.
  • Assist with laundry and general tidying of Residents' rooms, as detailed in the Room Base Check.
  • Ensure accurate handover information and documentation, maintaining a good standard and updating before the end of the shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaise with other professionals as necessary regarding Residents.
  • Participate in care planning and reviewing documents for designated Residents.
  • Supervise and assist Residents at mealtimes.
  • Assist or prepare meals for Residents when required.
  • Perform domestic tasks, such as cleaning, when required.
  • Support other Home roles during staff shortages.
Operational Responsibilities

The Care Support Worker will ensure the environment is safe and secure, adhering to Deepdene Care's policies and procedures, including fire procedures, health and safety, and emergency procedures.

  • Ensure the environment is safe and secure, and be fully conversant in all Deepdene Care's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure emergency procedures are known and adhered to when necessary.
  • Ensure the layout of the buildings, including fire exits, fire call points, smoke detectors, fire equipment, and fire control panels, are known.
  • Report any occurrences or concerns that may put Residents, staff, or visitors at risk, regarding the home environment.
  • Ensure all communal areas are tidy and safe.
  • Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy, with fridges switched on and closed properly.
  • Ensure the laundry room is kept clean and tidy, adhering to guidelines for machine usage.
Team Responsibilities

The Care Support Worker will contribute to the team's well-being and participate in staff meetings, training, supervisions, appraisals, and teaching sessions.

  • Assist with the induction of new staff.
  • Act responsibly regarding other staff's well-being.
