Position Overview:

The Investment Associate is integral to the evaluation and management of infrastructure investments on a principal basis. This role involves collaborating with the broader team to assess infrastructure investment prospects, primarily focusing on Europe while also considering global opportunities. Responsibilities include conducting thorough research, formulating recommendations, participating in investment execution, and overseeing ongoing investments.

Key Responsibilities:

A) Evaluate Investment Prospects:

Review:

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of various infrastructure investment opportunities.
  • Develop intricate financial models to assess investment prospects, including testing assumptions and sensitivities.
  • Perform due diligence on potential investments, examining historical and projected financial performance, management quality, investment advantages and risks, anticipated returns, regulatory landscape, industry trends, and other pertinent factors.
  • Analyze third-party due diligence reports (legal, accounting, industry strategic reviews, environmental assessments, etc.).
  • Conduct valuation assessments, including discounted cash flow (DCF), precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis.
  • Engage with company leadership to discuss past performance, strategic direction, outlook, regulatory and industry challenges, and other relevant topics as necessary.

Recommend:

  • Participate in Infrastructure investment recommendation meetings.
  • Assist in presenting investment proposals to investment committees.

B) Execute Infrastructure Investments:

  • Support the overall execution of investment transactions.
  • Coordinate with investment partners and advisors (financial, legal, etc.).

C) Monitor Infrastructure Investments:

  • Oversee the ongoing financial and operational performance of infrastructure investments.
  • Identify and assist in implementing performance enhancement initiatives at portfolio companies.
  • Contribute to valuation reviews for infrastructure investments.
  • Foster and leverage relationships with management teams of portfolio companies.

D) Contribute to Team Development:

  • Engage in and contribute to weekly departmental meetings.
  • Share insights by coordinating and entering information into knowledge management systems.
  • Undertake other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in investment banking or private equity with a focus on infrastructure is preferred.
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record.
  • Proficient research, financial modeling, analytical, and valuation skills.
  • Exemplary professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal and business relationship skills.
  • Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and initiative.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance environment.
  • Willingness to travel when it is safe to do so.
