Position Overview

Location: Community-focused role with opportunities for remote work.

The Community Development Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering connections within the local community, particularly in raising awareness about dementia. The aim is to address health disparities and reach individuals with protected characteristics or those facing multiple challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate community understanding of dementia and guide individuals through the health and social care landscape.
  • Build trusted relationships and be adaptable to attend significant community events.
  • Exhibit empathy and a deep understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion, recognizing barriers to accessing dementia diagnoses and care services.
  • Proactively seek innovative methods for increasing awareness.

Candidate Profile:

  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of various communities, with confidence in advocating for community development to stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in networking and establishing local connections to provide a broad range of opportunities for those supported.
  • Exemplary communication skills and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Strong organizational abilities and effective time management.
  • Experience working with volunteers and an appreciation for their essential contributions to services.
  • Ability to travel independently as needed.
  • Familiarity with dementia and the requirements of individuals living with dementia and their caregivers is advantageous, though experience in community engagement or addressing health inequalities is also valued.
