Transport Operator

At Gregory Distribution, we are currently looking for a Transport Operator to join our dynamic logistics team. This role will involve overseeing various aspects of transport administration and ensuring the efficient operation of our busy distribution contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transport Manager in leading and motivating the transport team to optimize resource utilization and achieve high performance in commercial contract efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Plan and coordinate the transport operations, managing transitions between peak and off-peak periods for customers.
  • Provide daily leadership on transport-related issues, including driver dispatch debriefs and monitoring ongoing work.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to ensure seamless operational flow.
  • Manage and debrief drivers effectively.
  • Maximize resource utilization by planning ahead and fully utilizing assets.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Transport Manager on customer-related matters and provide recommendations as necessary.
  • Conduct monitoring and auditing of Health and Safety practices.
  • Address queries through various communication channels.
  • Assist in generating KPIs and daily performance statistics.
  • Support compliance planning in accordance with company procedures.
  • Provide direct assistance during breakdowns.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and support team collaboration.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in administration within the Transport and Logistics sector.
  • Familiarity with Manpack traffic systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
