Position: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Location: West Midlands

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 Per Annum

This prominent industrial manufacturing organization is in search of a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to enhance their proficient Maintenance team. This role operates on a permanent day shift, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4.30pm.

The company is recognized for its successful manufacturing and global export of a diverse array of products. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will engage in hands-on activities as a vital member of the Mechanical Maintenance team.

The ideal candidate will possess robust Fitter skills and will thrive in a hands-on environment while offering guidance and mentorship to a team of 10-12 skilled Mechanical Fitters. Responsibilities include:

  • Allocating tasks and sharing expertise with the team as needed.
  • Conducting both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and responding to production breakdowns.
  • Collaborating with the broader team to execute projects effectively.

Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate with various departments to ensure daily objectives are clearly understood and achieved.

Interested candidates should hold a mechanical qualification, ideally through a mechanical-related apprenticeship or a relevant RQF Level 3 qualification.


Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing settings.
  • Extensive experience in Mechanical preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Proficient in working with a variety of production equipment, including gearboxes, bearings, pumps, mechanical seals, pipework, motors, and belts.
  • Experience in Mechanical plant installation and modification.
  • Knowledge of Boiler operations, waste solvent incineration, or emissions abatement systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with statutory inspections, pressure testing, plant integrity, and commissioning work.
  • Ability to utilize Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Capable of interpreting equipment drawings, manuals, or other technical documentation to assist with tasks.
  • Must adhere to the company's safe systems of work and permit to work protocols.

Preferred Training / Qualifications:
  • Completion of a recognized Mechanical apprenticeship or at least RQF level 3 (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ level 3) in a practical Mechanical Fitting/Engineering discipline.
  • Any training or certification in operating MEWPs, Abrasive wheels, or Confined Spaces is highly beneficial but not mandatory.
