Southampton, Southampton, United Kingdom Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Community Mental Health Services in Hampshire. As Head of Service, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of services across the Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of Operations and Associate Clinical Director to contribute to the provision of excellent services for children, young people, and families served by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Lead a defined set of operational services, working in partnership with professional leads and as a corporate member of the Divisional Board, to participate in the leadership and development of the Trust as a whole.
  • Deliver agreed performance targets, including activity targets, in accordance with requirements laid down by regulators and professional bodies.
  • Ensure that services are financially managed in line with the Trust's policies and procedures, including high levels of financial probity and managing resources within agreed budgets.
  • Lead on a transformation programme to improve the quality of services and patient experience for your area of responsibility, as agreed with the Director of Operations and Divisional Board.
About Us

Southern Health is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services. We are committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities, while placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.

We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to combine all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services, with the plan to create a new larger, more integrated, and accessible organisation.

The transformation will happen in stages, with Hampshire CAMHS joining Southern Health in February 2024, and Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning across in May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent NHS Trust services is expected in late 2024, when our new organisation, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training, and partnership working.

We are happy to discuss flexible working options as part of the interview process.

Requirements
  • Extensive experience at senior management level in statutory services, with experience of cross-trust working.
  • Proven experience of successful achievement of leading change across services, involving and supporting teams and individuals to achieve objectives.
  • Experience of modernising services without the benefit of additional resources.
  • Significant experience of working with local partners and the public in changing services, including service closures and staff redundancies.
  • Significant experience of involving service users and carers in the development and improvement of services.
