Training Competence Manager

We are looking for a Training Competence Manager to oversee the development of our team at Govia Thameslink Railway.

In this role, you will report directly to the Lead Competence Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and sustain a proficient, customer-oriented team of Train Crew by effectively managing all competence and policy requirements.

Candidates must hold a valid Train Driver certification with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring adherence to all GTR Operational Competence Standards and Policies.
  • Completing all assessments as scheduled and to the required standards.
  • Communicating any performance deficiencies in Train Crew to the Driver Line Managers, along with a proposed remedial plan if related to competence.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable rules and standards for train operations.
  • A clean safety record.
  • A1/A2 & L12 or equivalent nationally recognized competence assessment and coaching qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to influence others.
  • Competence in operating traction units relevant to the designated area.
