This is a permanent position tailored for a committed expert who is enthusiastic about upholding superior safety standards and regulatory compliance within rail systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Assuming a leadership position within various projects to guarantee adherence to the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment.
Ensuring that all client projects comply with the Railways Interoperability Regulations.
Overseeing and guiding the System Safety (CSM) Team.
Supporting the growth and development of the System Safety Team in collaboration with the System Safety Manager.
Creating and delivering internal and external system safety training programs as necessary.
Conducting regular inspections and monitoring of projects for compliance, while identifying lessons learned and opportunities for enhancement.
Leading Hazard Workshops utilizing methodologies such as HAZID, HAZOP, Bow-Tie Models, Fault Trees, Event Trees, and Brainstorming.
Encouraging best practices in design risk management across the organization.
Providing strategic advice on business development and continuous improvement by working with various disciplines to enhance service delivery and processes.
Producing essential CSM and Interoperability documentation to facilitate project approvals.
Assisting the System Safety Team with System Safety concerns and engaging in Safe by Design initiatives.
Job Requirements:
A proven history of effectively applying and managing the CSM hazard management process in intricate multi-disciplinary project settings.
Strong communication abilities and the capacity to aid in the development of a growing Systems Safety Team.
Capability to efficiently manage and organize your workload.
Encouraging high levels of collaboration and coordination among project teams and individual contributors.
Experience in leading System Safety activities, including training sessions, workshops, meetings, and risk assessments.
Experience in liaising with regulatory authorities and independent assessment organizations.
Ability to work on both complex multi-disciplinary and straightforward projects, collaborating with internal and external designers as needed.
Membership or progress towards membership in a relevant professional institution is advantageous.
A solid understanding of engineering and operational design within the railway context, coupled with significant experience in rail system operation and maintenance.
Comprehensive knowledge of general construction practices, methods, and CDM Regulations 2015.
Thorough understanding of UK Rail Network engineering design standards, British and European Standards, and their application.
Capability to evaluate the competence of others in System Safety Engineering.
