Senior Camp Supervisor 10+ - Barracudas Activity Day Camps

Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:30

Compensation: £628.71 per week, dependent on age, experience, and qualifications.

Reporting To: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office.

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an engaging base room environment that is tidy and welcoming for children.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to guarantee a fun and secure atmosphere for the children.
  • Implement the daily activity schedule to provide a diverse range of sessions as promised by Barracudas.
  • Design and facilitate various activities with enthusiasm and structure.
  • Ensure the needs of children are met through active supervision and attention throughout the day, including during breaks and lunch.
  • Utilize available resources to plan and deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with the scheduled group.
  • Foster individual relationships with children in your group, discovering their interests and integrating these into their camp experience.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to deliver engaging sessions.
  • Encourage full participation from all children in the group.
  • Take responsibility for the overall welfare and safeguarding of the children.
  • Ensure the safe usage of equipment during your sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience or qualifications in working with secondary school-aged children.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the start of the contract.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Must possess enthusiasm, care, organization, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively manage unpredictable challenges in a childcare environment.
  • Must obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Participation in a Virtual Assessment Event is required for new applicants.
  • Completion of annual Online Training is mandatory.
  • Experience in managing challenging behavior in children aged 10 and above, or willingness to learn.
  • Attendance at an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season is necessary.
  • Assistance with the end-of-camp pack-up is expected.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and demonstrating a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Activities organized or delivered must be suitable for the children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications and skills.
  • Encourage children to engage in new activities and ensure adherence to the activity timetable.
  • Maintain awareness of children's whereabouts and promote safe behavior among those under your supervision.
  • Strictly follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, while supporting colleagues in adhering to Health and Safety protocols.
  • Serve as a positive role model by promoting healthy lifestyles and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Management Team or the designated person at Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of children with additional requirements.
  • Collaborate with the SSI to enhance inclusivity and communication within the group.
  • Depending on staff availability, you may be asked to lead Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to assist with swimming sessions; swimwear must be provided by the staff.
