Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Project Controls Manager to enhance our expanding team, with opportunities available from our Midlands offices.

The Project Controls Manager will become an integral part of our Midlands Project Controls team, collaborating with a diverse array of clients to spearhead the adoption of best practices in Controls, Planning, Analytics, Reporting, Risk Management, Change Management, Resource Allocation, and Performance Management on intricate, multidisciplinary client projects.

As a Project Controls Manager, you will excel in communication, ensuring engagement and collaboration across all aspects of Project Controls to support the successful achievement of project, program, and portfolio goals.

Key Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate with a project controls team on significant projects, ensuring comprehensive delivery of scope and effective resource coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing tailored Project Controls Management strategies and processes across various projects, programs, and portfolios.
  • In-depth understanding of best practices in project controls, including the ability to interpret project and business objectives and how specific lifecycle or procurement strategies may influence Project Controls Execution strategies.
  • Ability to define success metrics and establish processes and governance to ensure achievement.
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in at least one area of Project Controls, such as Planning, Analytics, Reporting, Risk Management, Cost Control, Estimating, Change Management, Governance, or Strategy.
  • Familiarity with project controls software like Primavera, Project Online, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject, SAP, @Risk, Pertmaster, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Acumen Suite, Power BI, Azure, Tableau, Sharepoint, CEMAR, and Conject, with the capability to recommend optimal solutions based on client needs.
  • Understanding of contract frameworks, particularly NEC, and how their specifics affect Project Controls delivery.
  • Experience in conducting independent reviews to ensure high-quality project data, which is critically assessed before submission to clients, while ensuring compliance with internal standards.
  • Confidence in presenting project status to stakeholders, including assessments of current standing, impacts, and recommendations for recovery and mitigation strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, proactive culture within your project controls team, holding work package owners accountable for performance, designing appropriate outputs for diverse stakeholder needs, and implementing governance for effective communication and coordination.

Desirable:

  • Experience in line management, demonstrating exemplary behavior and the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
  • Skills in bid or proposal preparation, including writing, review, and assurance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, facilitating relationship building and effective report writing.
  • A passion for mentoring and sharing expertise through management roles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
