About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at Devon County Council. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality meals to children and staff in our schools.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, including main courses, desserts, and drinks.
  • Help with the laying up of tables and serving counters, and clearing, cleaning, and tidying after lunchtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
  • Conduct temperature testing of food.
  • Clear up and remove waste food, packaging, and other waste generated by the kitchen and its activities.
  • Move furniture in the dining area as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a school or commercial environment is desirable.
  • Ability to build good relationships with children and staff and be a friendly and positive presence in our schools.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and have a good sense of humour.
  • Ability to use your own initiative when required.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
