TPF Recruitment is excited to partner with a thriving firm of accountants and business consultants based in Reading, seeking to appoint a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager. The dedicated tax team comprises seasoned professionals in Corporate Tax, Personal Tax, and Payroll, hailing from various backgrounds, including Big 4 and top 10 firms, alongside a skilled group of trainees. The expanding Corporate Tax division offers essential compliance services and specialized guidance, including R&D claims, capital allowances assessments, corporate restructuring, and group tax strategies, presenting substantial opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a portfolio of corporate clients, acting as the primary contact and managing their corporation tax compliance process.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of corporation tax computations and returns, ensuring precision and adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Support the Corporation Tax Manager/Senior Manager in client engagement management, maintaining client communication, and ensuring timely submissions and payments (including QIPs).
  • Conduct research on technical issues, identify potential risks, and propose suitable solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to manage interdepartmental workflows, gather necessary information for tax compliance, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Address HMRC inquiries on behalf of clients, including preparing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies, such as tax credits, reliefs, and incentives, and assist in their implementation.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax legislation and regulations, evaluate their implications for clients, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of tax compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure effective tax risk management for clients and the firm.
  • Mentor and guide trainees.
  • Assist with various tax projects, such as restructuring initiatives, mergers, and acquisitions, by providing tax analysis and support to senior team members.
  • Build and sustain relationships with clients, understand their business needs, and deliver high-quality tax services to support their objectives.
  • Manage workflow efficiently, track the status of all tasks, and take personal responsibility for your work.
  • Exhibit commercial awareness, work within budgets, manage work in progress for your assignments, and take charge of invoicing.


Requirements
  • Newly qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and/or Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, CA) or equivalent international qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in preparing corporation tax computations and returns for individual entities and groups of companies.
  • Experience in the following areas is desirable:
    • Tax Compliance for Groups of Companies
    • Research & Development Tax Relief Claims (SMEs & RDEC for Large Companies)
    • Preparation of Corporate Interest Restriction Returns
    • Preparation of Capital Allowances Reports
  • Strong numerical, literacy, and communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Experience with tax software packages, ideally Digita (training will be provided).

  • Competitive salary ranging from £50,000 to £55,000 based on experience and qualification level.
