As a Child and Family Support Specialist, you will be the primary professional responsible for overseeing and facilitating family interaction sessions, prioritizing the children's best interests, and ensuring these engagements adhere to legal requirements and the children's preferences.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the designated lead worker for children in care, ensuring their safety during family interaction sessions.
- Collaborate with social work teams to deliver and supervise high-quality family engagement experiences.
- Conduct and oversee family interaction sessions, ensuring a positive and secure environment for all involved.
- Maintain comprehensive and precise records of family interactions, addressing any child protection concerns or health and safety matters.
- Participate in regular supervision, management support, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in the role.
- Work flexibly to meet the varied scheduling needs of family interactions, including afternoons, early evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Assist in the completion of life story work, supporting the child's identity needs as outlined in their individual care plans.
- Ensure all interactions and administrative tasks are documented in the records of children or young people, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all information.
- A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Social Care, Child Development, or an equivalent qualification.
- DBS clearance is essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, providing clear and accurate advice in spoken English.
- Proven experience working with children, young people, and their families/carers in accordance with national and local guidelines.
- Capacity to manage a balanced workload, responding promptly and effectively to the needs of children and families.
