Facilities Maintenance Leader

Our client, a prominent player in the global manufacturing sector, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Leader to oversee their multi-skilled maintenance team.


This role is pivotal in shaping and executing the maintenance strategy for the site, ensuring safe and efficient operations while working closely with the production team to enhance plant availability, performance, and quality. We are looking for a visionary leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.


Key Responsibilities:


As the Facilities Maintenance Leader, you will be responsible for:


  • Ensuring adherence to legislation and health & safety standards in all maintenance operations.
  • Managing daily on-site maintenance activities while providing guidance and support to the team.
  • Reinforcing the organization's values and maintenance strategy among all staff members.
  • Overseeing the maintenance department's workload, prioritizing site needs effectively.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the facility.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and driving efficiency within the manufacturing process.
  • Ensuring all maintenance personnel receive the necessary training and development for optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with managers and teams to resolve issues through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Mentoring the team using root cause analysis techniques to swiftly address downtime challenges.
  • Maximizing the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to minimize reactive work.
  • Regularly updating the SAP CMMS to prevent future downtimes by maintaining accurate records of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Identifying potential future capital expenditure projects to mitigate impacts on key performance indicators.
  • Working alongside the Engineering Project Manager and Plant Manager to implement strategies, standards, and innovative techniques.
  • Maintaining effective communication with maintenance departments throughout the organization.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for engineering and continuous improvement group meetings.
  • Providing regular updates to the Plant Manager on progress and initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:


The ideal candidate will possess:


  • A proven history in a maintenance environment with over 5 years of management experience.
  • A comprehensive understanding of maintenance practices and industry standards.
  • Experience with maintenance methodologies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • The ability to quickly adapt to new systems and identify process enhancements to prevent failures.
  • Strong multitasking capabilities and the ability to make timely, effective decisions.
  • Experience with CMMS systems; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • A motivated individual who can inspire the maintenance team and drive positive change.
  • An engineering or trade qualification with relevant industry experience.
