Senior Accountant

Mellis Blue Accountancy Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join our team. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality services to our clients in a designated section.
Key Responsibilities- Client Accounts and Tax Returns: Prepare client accounts and tax returns based on information supplied by clients, advise on tax payable and payment dates, and meet deadlines.
- Liaison with Clients: Liaise with clients to obtain relevant information for their accounts, acting in a proactive way and ensuring attention to details and effective questioning of clients.
- Client Development: Work with managers to develop knowledge of clients and their businesses, becoming their point of contact on day-to-day matters.
- Tax Planning: Assist partners and managers with tax planning for existing and potential clients, adding value to our clients' businesses and individual wealth.
- Support and Training: Support trainees by providing on-the-job coaching, attend courses relevant to the job role, and use appropriate support networks to clarify knowledge on complex queries.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform book-keeping, ledger maintenance, supplier maintenance, and management accounts as required, prepare client tax returns, and assist clients with accounts software and other book-keeping queries.
- Client Seminars: Involvement in client seminars, including attendance and setup where required.
- Marketing and Promotion: Assist the partner and manager in taking responsibility for the proactive promotion of the firm in conjunction with the marketing department.
- Accounts Preparation: Ability to complete accounts files accurately and efficiently.
- Tax Returns: Ability to complete personal tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Computer Literacy: Strong computer literacy.
- Problem Resolution: Excellent problem resolution skills and idea generation ability.
- Accounts Knowledge: In-depth accounts preparation knowledge.
- Accounting Systems: Knowledge of accounting systems, including CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, Farmplan, and other software as required.
- Qualifications: Essential: ACA or ACCA qualified. Desirable: Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Essential: Minimum of 2 years proven accounts experience within a practice environment. Desirable: Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, rural business services experience.
