Senior Highway Maintenance Engineer

Are you a skilled and proactive professional in the field of highway maintenance? We are seeking a Senior Highway Maintenance Engineer to lead a significant Highway Maintenance initiative.



Role Overview:


In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic direction and oversight to a dedicated team of engineers and inspectors.

Your team will be tasked with the design, procurement, and management of various maintenance projects related to roadways, pedestrian pathways, drainage systems, and more. These initiatives stem from routine evaluations and assessments.



Core Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the Highway Maintenance team.
  • Supervise the design, procurement, and execution of highway maintenance projects.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of projects with budgets reaching up to £5 million.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders within a complex political landscape.
  • Prepare reports for committees and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Oversee project and program budgets, including setting, forecasting, and monitoring financial performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Local Authority highway maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, including team support and recruitment.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders in both public and private sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven history of successful highway maintenance project delivery.
  • Expertise in financial management, particularly in capital work programs.
  • A valid UK driving license.
