Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Technician / MOT Inspector to join our Transport Services team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake MOT inspections to strict DVSA guidelines and conduct Hackney Carriage/private hire testing to required standards.
  • Assist in providing a repair and maintenance service to vehicles, plant, and equipment for internal and external customers.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs of a varied fleet of vehicles covering multiple services across the authority, including Plant vehicles and specialist equipment.
  • Undertake inspections, repairs, and maintenance on all Council vehicles and specialist equipment to Ministry of Transport standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of four years' full-time employment as a mechanic/technician on diesel engines, petrol engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • DVSA nominated tester (Classes IV and VII) certificate with a minimum of four years' experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 in motor vehicle craft studies or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience.
  • Flexible and organized approach to work with good communication and interpersonal skills.
