Job Role

As a Removals Porter, you will be responsible for relocating household and office furniture and other items to new premises or storage facilities. You will work in small to large teams, depending on the requirements of the job.

This is a zero-hours contract role, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract after three months of service, subject to satisfactory performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Household removals or relocations
  • Office removals or relocations
  • Taking goods into or out of storage
  • Large specialist projects, such as relocating hospital, library, or school equipment
  • Relocating specialist fine art and furniture
Day-to-Day Tasks
  • Safely packaging items before removal or storage
  • Wrapping and protecting furniture for shipping overseas
  • As a specialist packer, you may be required to visit a location before the move to wrap and pack delicate items, such as china, glass, artwork, and antiques
  • Using packaging to protect fragile items, such as computers or antiques
  • Taking apart larger items of furniture for packing and removal
  • Removing doors, door frames, or windows to facilitate the relocation of large pieces of furniture
  • Packing items, loading them into your vehicle, and securing them safely
  • Checking that all goods are secure before driving off
  • Driving to the new location, unloading the items, reassembling large items, and placing them where the customer wants them
  • Unwrapping furniture and unpacking cartons
Requirements

Flexible working hours, working as and when required

Moves between longer distances may involve overnight stays in lodgings or in a vehicle

Driving Licence holders are preferred, but not essential

Experience in removals or a similar role is preferred

Benefits

£104 per day
