Our site in Kiveton is one of our largest manufacturing facilities, employing over 600 people and producing more than 42 million quiches each year, along with a wide range of ready meals and soups.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Shift Manager to lead our engineering shift team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  1. Leading the Engineering Shift Team

Lead a high-performing engineering shift team, motivating and engaging team members to develop and achieve their potential.

Planning and Prioritizing Shift Workload

Plan and prioritize the shift workload for the engineering team to ensure production targets are achieved by maximizing machinery uptime.

Maintaining a Safe Working Environment

Ensure all plant and equipment adhere to relevant legislation and maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Ensuring Permit to Work Compliance

Ensure the permit to work is in place and adhered to, ensuring contractors and colleagues work safely at all times.

Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices

Ensure the shift engineering team adheres to good manufacturing practices (GMP), ensuring compliance with manufacturing unit food safety requirements.

Leading by Example

Lead the engineering team to create a high-performing culture, including setting team/individual expectations, leading by example, encouraging and supporting team members to achieve their potential, and ensuring policies are upheld.

Documentation and Reporting

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of shift activities and performance, escalation of relevant events as required, real-time use of CMMS, completion of relevant reports, root cause analysis studies, and active contribution to daily meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Qualification

Hold a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification gained through a time-served apprenticeship or study, ideally at NVQ L3.

Permit Systems and Risk Assessments

Have knowledge of permit systems, risk assessments, and method statements.

PLC Awareness and Fault Finding

Display PLC awareness and fault-finding capabilities.

Maintenance of Engineering Systems

Understand how to maintain engineering systems within a manufacturing environment.

Food or FMCG Manufacturing Experience

Food or wider FMCG manufacturing experience is desirable.
