Stanmore, Greater London, United Kingdom The National Autistic Society Full time
About The National Autistic Society:
The National Autistic Society stands as the premier charity in the UK dedicated to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum.

Since its inception in 1962, the organization has been pivotal in enhancing lives, shifting perceptions, and fostering a society that accommodates both autistic adults and children.

Our mission is to transform lives by offering essential support, guidance, and practical advice to the 700,000 autistic individuals in the UK, along with their three million family members and caregivers.

We provide assistance during critical moments in the lives of autistic individuals, whether it involves obtaining a diagnosis, navigating the educational system, or securing employment.

We aim to reshape societal attitudes by enhancing public comprehension of autism and the challenges faced by many autistic individuals.

Additionally, we collaborate closely with businesses, local authorities, and governmental bodies to cultivate more autism-friendly environments, improve service delivery, and advocate for legislative enhancements.

With your contribution, we can achieve these goals.

Employee Benefits:
  • Comprehensive induction, training, and development programs, including specialized training on autism and opportunities to participate in our conferences.
  • Access to an online staff discount scheme offering various benefits (such as a cycle to work scheme and season ticket loans).
  • Availability of a 24-hour employee assistance program.
  • Commitment to supporting autistic individuals from diverse backgrounds, reflected in our staff and volunteer representation.

About Our Educational Institution:

Recognized as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in January 2022, Sybil Elgar School provides educational support for children and young adults on the autism spectrum, aged 4-22.

Engaging with children and young adults with special educational needs presents unique challenges, and our dedicated staff understand that positively influencing a young person's learning journey is invaluable.

However, the rewards of working with autistic children are immeasurable.

We are looking for educators who possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience in teaching (SEND/ASD).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Curriculum and its implications for pupils with autism.
  • The capability to lead and enhance the coordination of specific curriculum areas across the institution.
  • A passion for working with students with complex behavioral needs.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to set a positive example.
  • An enthusiasm for curriculum innovation and effective teaching methodologies.

We welcome applications from all qualified and experienced individuals, particularly those with a diagnosis of autism.

The National Autistic Society is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and adults utilizing our services, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
