Job Description

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Network Design Engineer to join our team in Cheadle, UK. As a Network Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing customer-configured solutions for our maritime and safety-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop network architectures that meet customer requirements and comply with protocols, Quality of Service, addressing schemes, and cyber security measures.
  • Support the Network Test & Integration Strategy and agree on Integration, Verification, and Validation Methods.
  • Implement network architectures in physical form, ensuring fit and function.
  • Understand and/or experience of Network Test and Acceptance requirements in regulated settings.
  • Demonstrate compliance to requirements set through integration, verification, and validation activities, including production of Test Reports and certificates.
  • Carry out network engineering activities in a team/multi-stakeholder/multi-discipline environment.
Requirements
  • Experience in LAN/WAN administration.
  • Good all-round technical networking knowledge.
  • Designing IP-based networks.
  • Network security, using ACLs, Stateful Firewalls, and Stateless Firewalls.
  • Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack.
  • Understanding of the ISO protocol stack.
  • Understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols, including OSPF and Multicast PIM.
  • Linux experience (command line/scripting).
  • General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles.
Security Clearance

This role requires UK Nationality and Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
