We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Wardell Armstrong. As an Ecologist, you will be responsible for leading and undertaking ecological field surveys, analyzing and interpreting survey results, and producing preliminary ecological appraisals and survey reports.

You will work closely with our team of environmental professionals to deliver a range of projects, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our clients meet their ecological obligations and minimize their impact on the environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and undertaking ecological field surveys and the analysis and interpretation of survey results.
  • Producing preliminary ecological appraisals, survey reports, licence applications, and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Devise and implement mitigation strategies and habitat management opportunities.
  • Providing technical input and support to internal offices and clients.
  • Managing projects, including resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing risk, quality assurance, and client feedback.

Requirements include:

  • Qualification to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Protected species survey licences and experience of protected species Mitigation Licensing.
  • Associate or Full member of CIEEM or other relevant institute.
  • Full understanding of habitat survey and broad knowledge of protected species survey.
  • Comfortable writing of Ecological Impact Assessment reports and understanding of CIEEM methodology.
  • Competent GIS skills and understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessment.
