The Role

The Senior Data Analyst will be a content leader in the battery raw materials research team, with a focus on the lithium market and EV and ESS applications. The Senior Data Analyst contributes directly to the overall house view, overseeing data collection and analysis, and delivering market balance and price forecasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on lithium market analysis and forecasts, identifying necessary data inputs and overseeing procurement, collection, cleaning and validating for forecasting lithium supply.
- Analyze and integrate lithium demand forecasts for EV and ESS applications to develop, produce and update supply/demand, market balance and price forecasts, considering cost and other critical metrics.
- Supplement forecast models with content creation on the battery raw materials market, technology development, regulatory/policy developments, supply, demand, capacity, trade and other factors that impact the industry.
- Author and control the input from internal and external contributors to guarantee timely and coherent updates for our customers.
- Manage client and internal enquiries about the lithium and the wider battery raw materials market and be accountable for fulfilling requests for insight and data for presentations and interviews.
- Contribute data and analysis for presentations at industry events, forums, webinars and product marketing.
- Engage with market participants, gain insights across the value chain, promote Fastmarkets data and insights and identify opportunities for product enhancements.
- Work with consulting on projects by interacting with clients, helping specify and design studies which deliver to client needs, undertaking primary and secondary research, and supporting delivery.

Requirements
- 2-4 years of relevant data collection, management, analysis and forecast model development experience, including internship(s).
- Preference for previous experience in battery or commodities research, mining and refining, commodities trading and/or industrial manufacturing.
- Strong data identification and acquisition expertise conducted via primary and secondary research.
- Comprehensive understanding of statistical modelling and forecasting, particularly with regards to time series data, and some exposure to machine learning a plus.
- Able to critically assess statistical analyses and forecast models and suggest improvements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft, data analysis and forecast modeling applications.
- Excellent writing and verbal skills.
- The successful candidate will be proactive, pragmatic and resilient with a positive and flexible approach, focused on achieving results and the right outcome for a growing business.
- Can balance requirements for analytical rigor with commercial imperatives of efficient, on time delivery.
