Objective
This is a remarkable opportunity for a driven and committed legal professional to become a part of the Family Law division at PP Associates Ltd, a firm with a rich history of supporting the community. The selected candidate will be based at the main office and will report directly to the Department Head, joining a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals.
The primary responsibility of the Child and Family Law Advisor is to generate revenue by providing expert guidance on a diverse range of Family and Children law issues, encompassing both private and public matters, while contributing to the expansion of the Family Law practice. The role demands a high level of self-management and initiative, along with effective communication with partners, colleagues, and clients.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Proven experience in advising on various Family law issues.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to handle a personal caseload.
- Advocacy experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Legal Aid processes.
- A genuine enthusiasm for Family law.
- Commercially aware.
- Confident and articulate communicator.
- Proactive and positive approach.
- Possession of a referral source would be advantageous.
- Panel membership or progress towards it would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of Lexcel Compliance is preferred.
Core Responsibilities
- Accountable for generating revenue by actively pursuing individual and departmental goals as established by the Department Head.
- Manage and provide advisory services for all aspects of assigned Family and Children Law cases, including but not limited to:
Private and Public matters
Divorce and Matrimonial
Domestic Abuse
Non-molestation
- Handle CCMS applications, amendments, and Powers of Attorney.
- Organize and conduct meetings with clients, ensuring a professional service and high standards of client care.
- Negotiate with clients and other professionals to achieve agreed objectives.
- Attend court hearings, prison visits, police stations, and other off-site obligations.
- Provide advocacy services.
- Draft legal documents and various court applications.
- Engage in Legal Aid work.
- Research and analyze documents and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice and procedures.
- Develop key relationships with the firm's client base and the broader industry.
- Stay informed about changes and developments in the law through reading legal journals and reports.
- Contribute to the firm's growth and development by identifying business expansion opportunities.
- Offer guidance and support to other staff members, including supervising and training junior solicitors and paralegals.
- Adhere to processes and procedures as directed by the Department Head.
- Participate in specific training as required and take responsibility for personal development.
- Ensure compliance with Lexcel and other standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all firm and client documentation and information in accordance with GDPR.
- Engage in business development activities and networking.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Directors as necessary for other fee earners and employees.
