Financial Controller / Finance Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Financial Controller / Finance Manager to join our client's team. As a key member of the finance function, you will be responsible for leading a small team and overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasting, budgeting, and year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of 3 Accounts Assistants and ensure timely completion of daily, monthly, and quarterly deadlines
  • Develop and implement strategic direction for the finance and compliance functions, including medium and long-term planning
  • Advise and implement strategies to improve company infrastructure and processes
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, commentary, and full balance sheet reconciliation
  • Produce reports for banks and funders as required
  • Oversee year-end, VAT, and key payments to HMRC
  • Collaborate with directors to produce the annual budget and EBITDA reports
  • Oversee payroll processing and management of operational data, including KPIs
  • Manage relationships with lenders, banking partners, and HMRC
  • Manage multiple bank accounts and analyze costs within the business
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best value
  • Oversee medium to long-term quality compliance and potential implementation of ISO
Requirements:
  • Fully qualified ACA, CIMA, or ACCA
  • Current experience as a Finance Manager / Financial Controller, ideally in an SME Owner Managed business
  • Experience with end-to-end management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Ability to start immediately or within one month of being offered the role
  • Experience with Xero and advanced MS Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and commercial and analytical skills
