Job Title: Senior Claims Underwriter

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Underwriter to join our team at SCOR. As a key member of our Professional Indemnity segment, you will be responsible for underwriting direct and/or reinsurance risks within the renewal book and new business.

The ideal candidate will have experience in primary, excess, or reinsurance underwriting in Professional Indemnity Insurance, with a focus on the large corporate risk market. You will have a strong understanding of the Professional Indemnity class, including professions, wordings, trends, and market environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an allocation of existing cases within the portfolio
  • Work and coordinate with the existing team in London and Paris
  • Actively market SCOR PI appetite and capabilities to brokers, corporate clients/risk managers & ceding companies within the European market
  • Seek out and support other team members to find new business opportunities and lines of enquiry with both existing broker base and new broking contacts
  • Assist with internal reporting and requests for market intelligence
  • Support new product initiatives and actively research the class keeping PI manager informed
  • Underwrite within the SBS Casualty Guidelines and comply with required framework for referrals
  • Manage the administration and processing of the allocated book including compliance with systems requirements, document storage, accounting, claims & actuarial liaison as required
Requirements:
  • Experience at a similar level relating to primary, excess or reinsurance underwriting in Professional Indemnity Insurance with focus on the large corporate risk market
  • Knowledge and experience of underwriting Media, Engineers, Contractors, Lawyers, Accountants and Miscellaneous Professions
  • Knowledge of the London and/or USA insurance markets is preferred
  • Ability to manage allocated portfolio of cases with evidence of client retention
  • Good knowledge of the Professional Indemnity class - professions, wordings, trends & market environment
  • Able to develop strong relationships and contacts in the relevant marketplace
  • Proactive management skills of own book - early engagement on renewals, timely responses on new business
Personal Competences:
  • Strong technical/analytical underwriting skills including pricing, wordings and ERM assessment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and able to represent Business solutions/SCOR global P&C at conferences, professional meetings and associations
  • Highly organised, self-motivated individual - track record of working in a busy team environment
  • Team player - strong inter-personal skills
  • Proficient PC Skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required by business needs
