Position Overview: Medical Consultant in Gastroenterology

We are seeking a highly skilled medical professional to fill the role of Medical Consultant specializing in Gastroenterology. Below are the key qualifications and responsibilities associated with this position:

Core Requirements

  • Possession of Full GMC Registration and a valid Licence to Practice
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register with GMC or expected CCT within 6 months of the interview
  • Equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration, such as CESR
  • MRCP certification
  • Current Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • Extensive experience in General Medicine and Gastroenterology
  • Familiarity with UK hospital systems
  • Proficiency in diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of GMC's Good Medical Practice guidelines
  • Engagement in clinical audit and knowledge of Clinical Governance
  • Experience in critically appraising medical evidence
  • Ability to organize educational programs for medical students
  • Awareness of NHS management and operational structure
  • Willingness to engage in clinical management activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree such as MD, PhD, or MSc
  • Prior experience within the NHS
  • Training in a subspecialty
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • Understanding of risk management principles
  • Experience in teaching a diverse range of healthcare professionals
  • Management training experience
