Position Overview

Kingston GP Chambers is a dynamic and welcoming training facility with a patient base exceeding 5,000 individuals. Our practice is committed to providing high-quality healthcare and is part of a network that emphasizes collaboration and community engagement.

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative General Practitioner to join our team, working a minimum of 4 sessions weekly. The ideal candidate will become part of a passionate and supportive group of salaried GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, and a proficient administrative team.

There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to engage in educational activities with undergraduate medical students and nursing professionals, contributing to the esteemed Kingston Education Centre, which has established strong partnerships with local educational institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the healthcare requirements of patients presenting with undiagnosed and complex issues.
  • Conduct screenings for potential health risks and early indicators of illness.
  • Formulate care strategies in collaboration with patients, adhering to established disease management protocols.
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges, and refer to other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely consultation records in accordance with professional standards.
  • Generate and issue electronic prescriptions, minimizing the use of handwritten documents.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Be available for a variety of tasks, including in-person consultations, telephonic inquiries, home visits, and managing prescriptions and correspondence efficiently.
  • Make independent, professional decisions regarding patient care, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients.
  • Collect and analyze data for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Prescribe medications in line with the practice's formulary, ensuring clinical appropriateness.
  • Fulfill all standard responsibilities associated with a General Practitioner in a primary care setting.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Completion of a recognized vocational training program in General Practice.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and eligibility for the GP register.
  • Certification of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications relevant to primary care.
