Forensic Clinical Psychologist
Job Overview
This position presents a distinctive opportunity to join a newly established team focused on delivering Primary Care interventions as part of Mental Health Treatment Requirements (MHTR) within the Criminal Justice System. The team collaborates closely with CNTW's established Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Team (CJLD), renowned for its effectiveness in identifying individuals with mental health needs and directing them to appropriate services. This new initiative aims to provide direct treatment interventions to minimize delays in accessing essential services.
The role is particularly suited for professionals with experience in Clinical or Forensic environments, offering a chance to contribute to the development of services that prioritize neurodiversity, person-centered approaches, and trauma-informed care for a population that often faces challenges in navigating traditional primary care pathways.
The successful candidate will have access to support for career advancement and will benefit from Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities within the CJLD, broader secure care services, and across CNTW.
Key Responsibilities
In response to our success and requests from our commissioners, the MHTR team is expanding its reach to additional courts in the Northumberland, Tyne, and Wear area. The primary focus of this role will be to ensure the efficient operation of daily activities within the MHTR team. Responsibilities include:
- Triage referrals and supervise assessments conducted by team members.
- Ensure timely communication of outcomes to court personnel.
- Manage a caseload delivering MHTR interventions utilizing various integrated therapeutic models.
Additionally, there will be opportunities to further define team roles and responsibilities in collaboration with the Clinical Lead, including occasional deputizing for the Clinical Lead.
Direct supervision will be provided by the Clinical Lead, with opportunities for specialized therapeutic supervision and peer support from the wider forensic psychology team within CNTW.
There are also opportunities to engage in research initiatives both within CNTW MHTR and as part of the national minimum dataset.
About CNTW
We strive to attract and retain a diverse, skilled, and dedicated workforce that is compassionate and capable of meeting the evolving demands of modern healthcare. In return, we offer a dynamic work environment conducive to career development.
