Structural Soils is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Geotechnical Drilling Technician to join our team. This role involves conducting site investigations across the UK, requiring frequent travel and occasional overnight stays.

As a Lead Geotechnical Drilling Technician, you will be responsible for operating rotary drilling rigs to create boreholes for various projects. Your expertise will ensure accurate borehole logging and adherence to project specifications, including in-situ testing, sampling, and installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate rotary drilling rigs proficiently to execute site investigation boreholes, ensuring timely submission of comprehensive borehole logs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project specifications and carry out assigned tasks meticulously, encompassing in-situ testing, sampling, and installations.
  • Maintain a steadfast commitment to regulatory and company standards regarding health, safety, environment, and quality.
  • Adhere to all company policies, industry regulations, and specifications.
  • Utilize initiative and experience to effectively address challenges encountered on site.
  • Foster clear communication with colleagues and clients throughout projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, reflecting professionalism in all aspects.
    • Inspect, maintain, and report on the condition of drilling rigs, equipment, and vehicles provided for your use.
    • Submit records for SHEQ purposes, including daily equipment checks.
    • Assist with minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Possess a valid UK driving license, including a towing license.
  • Complete all required training and assessments as outlined by the company.
  • Supervise and mentor drilling assistants effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CSCS and NVQ Level 2 (Lead Driller) certification are essential.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working environments during various stages of investigations.
  • Exhibit flexibility in shift working hours and occasional weekend work commitments.
  • Hold a full, clean UK Driving License.
