Emtech Recruitment is collaborating with a prominent engineering consultancy specializing in structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental, and transportation engineering design services across the UK and internationally.

We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to enhance our London office, focusing on significant projects such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and exhibition centers, with project values reaching up to £300 million.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will engage in a variety of technically demanding projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results for our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Overseeing project development from initiation to completion, including the creation of project management plans, appointment documents, financial oversight, invoice preparation, report writing, specifications, and Revit/BIM model production.
  2. Providing leadership and management to project resources.
  3. Offering technical and commercial expertise.
  4. Updating the Project Director on any potential changes in scope, circumstances, or timelines that may affect costs and agreeing on necessary actions.
  5. Delegating tasks and monitoring project delivery while mentoring junior team members.
  6. Conducting site visits, surveys, and inspections of structural works and existing buildings, and preparing relevant reports.
  7. Representing the company at design and project meetings, promoting our services and skills, and negotiating technical approvals.
  8. Building and maintaining relationships with clients and co-professionals.

Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity and innovation in designing structural and civil engineering solutions using various building materials, including reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry. Additional qualifications include:

  • Extensive knowledge of British construction methods, standard details, and guidelines (British Standards, NHBC, etc.), including modular systems.
  • Familiarity with the application of CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage both personal and team productivity.
  • Confidence in delivering presentations to clients and co-professionals.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of professional risks associated with the practice.
  • Experience in structural engineering delivery and information exchange processes, meeting at least BIM Level 2 standards.

Education:

A minimum of a BEng, MEng, or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Chartership is preferred but not mandatory, as we offer a successful Chartership program.
